Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about MacStats.
What exactly does MacStats monitor?
MacStats monitors your CPU usage, RAM (Memory Pressure), Disk activity, Network speed, Battery health, and individual Process activity in real time. It is a complete replacement for the default Activity Monitor.
Does the AI Explainer send my personal data to the cloud?
No. The AI Explainer only sends the literal name of the process (e.g., kernel_task) to our servers to generate the explanation. We do not send file paths, execution arguments, or any personal context. Read our Privacy Policy for full details.
Is it really a one-time purchase?
Yes. We hate subscription fatigue as much as you do. When you purchase MacStats Pro, you own that major version forever, with no recurring fees.
Why isn't MacStats on the Mac App Store?
MacStats requires low-level system access to provide accurate monitoring and process insights. Direct distribution allows MacStats to deliver the best experience while remaining fully notarized and approved by Apple outside the restrictive App Store sandbox.
Why does macOS ask if I want to open it?
This is a standard macOS security feature (Gatekeeper) for any app downloaded outside the App Store. MacStats is digitally signed and notarized by Apple to ensure it contains no malicious software. Simply click "Open" the first time you run it.
When will the AI Explainer be available?
The core monitoring features are live and free today. The AI Explainer and Pro tier are currently in active development. You can join the Waitlist on the pricing page to get early access when it launches.
